"over built" is the word that comes to mind. All the working controls are metal as well as the frame and body of the binoculars. Not sure the quality level on the optics, but with some limited use the optics are clear, bright and distortion free. Decent for the price point. These are definitely best for use with a boat, home or vehicle application. They are relatively heavy for hiking or backpacking.

These binoculars have good optics and give you a good, clean picture with ample, distortion-free light. The focus is solid and stays where positioned and the rubberized coating provides for a solid, comfortable grip. The only downside to these binoculars is that they are heavy. If you're used to more compact or lightweight units, you will definitely notice the difference and they could present fatigue through extended use. If you're doing just a little day-trekking with minimal supplies, the weight may not be an issue, but if you're carrying more of a full pack (24 hours get back home bag), you're likely not going to like the weight of these and they would better serve as a vehicle or home binoculars.
The advertised specs of 12x50 appear to be accurate and they come with a well-padded bag (including a shoulder strap) and a dedicated neck strap for the binoculars.

While these are really nice binoculars, I am kinda mad they are 20 dollars cheaper 2 days after I received them . Not feeling all warm and fuzzy now .
